The older we get the harder it is to lose weight. When you’re over 50 it seems damn near impossible. What we used to do for weight loss doesn’t work anymore. 1. Fast for 16 hours a day

If you’ve never consciously done this before it may seem like a radical shift. It’s not. Just don’t eat between dinner and breakfast. If you eat dinner at 7 pm don’t eat again until 11 am. Simple.

2. Move your body everyday

This is a huge must, guys. This is a no joke, no BS, get off your butt and do it kind of a thing. You need to get your body moving to get blood flow going and get your organs functioning properly. Humans are not meant to be sedentary. When you hit 50, bodily functions, hormones, and everything else slows. You’ve got to ‘keep it movin’. Here’s the good news. You don’t have to run 3 miles every day. It would be great if you did and you can build up to that if you want. But at minimum go for a brisk walk in the morning after your coffee. Just get the heart rate up for 30 minutes or so. Is 30 minutes a day too much for your body to ask?

3. Make the last meal of the day a light meal

Here’s what we (my wife Shirley and I) do. We eat soups, salads, and vegetables for dinner. Not all at one dinner, we just mix it up throughout the week. This does a lot of good things for you. It satisfies the need for your belly to be full but doesn’t make you feel like a beached whale. You may even want to go for a walk after dinner or get some things done around the house.

The real key is that your body slows down when you sleep including your digestive system. Don’t give your belly something hard to digest for the last meal of the day. If you need to eat meat, eat it for lunch.
