Are you struggling with a chronic condition and looking for a natural solution? Would you like some relief from the symptoms without the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs? I’m going to give you some all-natural alternatives that have produced amazing results for people. When you learn more about natural nootropics, you’re going to want to tell everyone about it too!
At LifeStyle Over 50, we are all about finding natural approaches to optimal health and wellness. We discovered nootropics early in 2018. I went to Dallas, TX in March of 2018 to learn more about a company that was manufacturing products containing all-natural nootropics. They take a very innovative approach to providing natural nootropics for the public and making it easy for people to know what nootropics they should be taking. They also package these natural nootropics into a ‘simple delivery’ system so we don’t need more bottles of pills sitting on our counter. I discuss this more below. But first, let’s introduce you to what nootropics are and how they can help you.
Natural nootropics can help you to be more focused, have more clarity of thought, be more motivated and alert, and have better memory. However, nootropics have also been reported to provide relief from chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. My wife Shirley had her brain fog and fatigue from menopause dissipate almost immediately. Read more about natural help for menopause. Natural nootropics can curb carbohydrate cravings and increase energy levels, helping people lose weight. Have I got your attention yet? Then let’s learn more about natural nootropics.

What are Natural Nootropics?
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, “Nootropics or smart drugs are well-known compounds or supplements that enhance cognitive performance. They work by increasing the mental function such as memory, creativity, motivation, and attention.” Nootropics were introduced to us in the 1970’s. In the medical community, nootropics are being used widely to treat a lot of different conditions such as ADHD and ADD. These are synthetic pharmaceutical drugs that sometimes come with a lot of serious and less serious side effects. It is widely known that high school and college students use synthetic nootropic drugs to improve cognitive function for studying and test-taking.
What we’re talking about here however, are natural nootropics. These are pharmaceutical-grade supplements that significantly increase cognitive function and support brain health without inducing any nasty side effects. Unlike the synthetic, incredibly powerful and sometimes dangerous drugs, this new generation of all-natural nootropics offers all the benefits of synthetic nootropics without the medical and even legal risks.
Nootropics work by improving brain function efficiency and capacity. They do that by stepping up the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, GABA, epinephrine, endorphins and more. These neurotransmitters communicate with neurons (nerve cells) which in turn affect brain and bodily function. This process works by increasing blood flow, or by encouraging the production of brain cells, and inhibiting brain cell destruction.

Natural nootropics are supplements that provide cognitive enhancements. They are "brain boosters". They can be taken for long periods of time, with little or no side effects, and with low toxicity.
We all realize that everything we do (voluntary or involuntary) and say starts with a thought or a signal from the brain to a part of the body, a nerve or an organ. Cognitive enhancement typically comes in the form of memory gain, increased attention span, better focus, more mental energy, and motivation. Natural nootropics will usually produce one or two of these cognitive functions, and boost mental performance generally.
List of Natural Nootropics and Benefits
Note- this is a partial list only. There are dozens of natural nootropics, but the list below is some of the most common.
2nd Note- as you will realize, many natural nootropics are in the food that we eat. However, they may not be present in the quantity needed for the desired effect. And, if the digestive system is not operating optimally, they may not be absorbed into the bloodstream to be carried to the area needed.

PubMed Central - A Good Nootropics Resource
The effect of nootropics was discovered in the 1970s, and significant research has been done since the 1990s. However, the information available to the general public is somewhat limited. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) does not study natural product supplements of any kind. The FDA does, of course, study pharmaceutical drugs so there is a lot more published about synthetic nootropics. These are the smart drugs prescribed by physicians for a multitude of conditions like ADD and ADHD. Synthetic nootropic drugs are not what we’re talking about here.
If you would like to do a more in-depth study of natural nootropics, a great resource is PubMed Central, a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM).
I use the search feature quite a bit. You'll be surprised at the number of studies that have been conducted on these powerful and amazing all-natural substances. And, what has been verified by these studies that they can do for us.
